Curious by default.
Operator by habit.

Notes from someone who can't stop taking things apart to see how they work.

I'm Tim. I've always wanted to know how things work, and then how to make them work better, for more people, with fewer flaws. These days that curiosity points mostly at AI, AI safety, bio research, investment, and Japanese carpentry.

How I work

  1. Ask why before how.

Make sure the right problem is being worked on, and that solving it is worth something.

  2. If not now, when?

Stagnation is a choice of weak decision making. Innovation requires commitment.

  3. Let the data argue.

Opinions start the conversation; measurements finish it. If you can't show it got better, it didn't.
